We have big things going on within the BASTA system. We are now preparing for our biggest launch ever!

During the past six months, we have worked on reshapingour criteria and building a brand new website. We are convinced that it will both facilitate the work of assessing and registering articles, as well as increase the value of registering articles. This through easier communication with stakeholders and an increased exposure of registered articles.

The launch is set for May 30th, and we invite you to an open webinar where we will go through all the updates on May 30th at 0900. Read more and sign up via this link.

As this is a major update, this will mean some operational disruptions during the period 22-29 May, read more about operational disruptions below.

The news in brief:

Updated criteria

We combine the criteria in the BASTA system for the GRADES BASTA, BETA and DECLARED in the same document, and add information from various supporting documents. From before, there are also optional criteria areas for circularity, renewability, environmental effects as well as emissions and tests. These optional criteria areas are now included in the same document as the BASTA system's other criteria.

New website

In addition to reshaping the criteria, we are building a brand new website! We do this in order to highlight both affiliated companies and registered articles better.

We will review all existing website content and more clearly describe how the BASTA system works. An update will also be implemented for our public search function so that it will be easier for anyone who wants to find registered articles.

Improved API

With the reconstruction, we will be able to offer the possibility to download additional data from our open database

Simplified registration of articles

We are also updating the registration details for new registrants and editing registered articles to follow the new structure.

Operating disturbances

The launch will involve a lot of work with migration of underlying databases and infrastructure. In order for no data to be lost during the migration, we will have to shut down some services and others will be affected to a lesser extent. The migration will take place between May 22-29.

The following services will be affected between May 22-29:

Website: BASTA's website will function as usual and you will be able to search among registered products. Some brief interruptions may occur in viewing detailed information about criteria fulfillment.

Register and update products: During this period it will not be possible to log in to your user account. It will therefore also not be possible to register new products or edit existing ones. The reason for this shutdown is that we need to ensure that all existing data is properly migrated to the new structure.

API: The API will be affected during the migration but will function as before after launch. As a customer, you do not need to make any changes to your integration. After launch, however, new endpoints will be available with much more detailed information about registered articles (eg fulfillment of specific criteria).

The logbook service: During the migration, it will not be possible to access the logbook service, nor to add registered products to the logbook. However, it will be possible to use the public search function to search for registered products so that they can be added when the service is working again. If during the migration you need to be able to see which articles you have in your project, you can export the entire logbook both as HTML and to Excel.

We are fully aware that this disruption may create additional work for those of you who use our services, but we are convinced that the added value of this launch will outweigh this short disruption.
