How Relekta Works with BASTA
You’ve probably seen Relekta’s products in your local building supply store – since 1977 they have been delivering repair and maintenance products for the construction and industrial sectors. We interviewed Lars Petter Bjaaland, Category and Marketing Manager.
Tell us about yourself and your role at Relekta
I work as the Marketing and Category Manager at Relekta. Relekta supplies Tec7 and Relekta 101 products to both professionals and consumers through the plumbing, HVAC, and building materials markets in Sweden and Norway. My role includes developing and following up on the product portfolio, ensuring that we offer competitive products, and planning and implementing marketing activities. I work closely with both suppliers and the sales organization to ensure that we meet customer needs and comply with current quality and environmental requirements.
How does Relekta use the BASTA system?
Relekta uses the BASTA system as part of our work with environment and sustainability. We register products in BASTA to document that they meet the requirements for chemical content and do not contain substances with undesirable properties. This is especially important for product series such as Tec7, where we focus on environmentally friendly solutions without harmful substances, and Relekta 101, which includes cleaning products with strict health and environmental requirements.
BASTA registration provides customers with confidence that our products comply with environmental standards and helps reduce the risk of hazardous substances in construction projects.
Do you use your BASTA registration in markets other than Sweden?
Yes, we also use the BASTA registration as a quality and environmental selling point in other markets, even though the system is Swedish. It provides clear documentation that is recognized within the industry, and we see that many customers in Norway and other countries appreciate this type of certification when choosing products — particularly within series like Tec7, which are often used in professional construction projects.
