How does it look on a product?

Criteria

Class 1: Permitted

Products that meet the criteria according to the ALFA level in the BASTA system. This refers in practice to products that do not contain or limit phase-out and risk reduction substances (i.e. contain no or low levels of substances with hazardous properties).

Class 2: Risk reduction

Chemical products that meet the criteria for the BETA level according to the BASTA system. This refers to chemical products that limit phase-out substances (i.e. may contain risk reduction substances but no or low levels of phase-out substances).

Class 3: Phase-out

Chemical products that contain phase-out substances above the BETA level in the BASTA system. These chemicals should only be used when there are no alternatives.
