Modularization launches today
Today, Monday November 3, the modularization of BASTA is launched. What does that mean?
This is the biggest update to BASTA since the system was founded:
- Modularization of the BASTA system: It will now be possible to register and publish a product as long as at least one of the following criteria areas is met: Health and environmental hazards, Circularity, Renewability, Environmental effects - EPD and/or Emissions and tests.
- New criteria areas: Article identifier (mandatory) and Article information (optional) have been added to clarify the criteria and information about products.
- Changes in Health and environmental hazards: The BASTA grade has been renamed ALPHA, and the proportion of primary and recycled raw materials must be specified upon registration. The methodology for assessing circulated raw materials has been clarified, and the definition of electronics now follows the RoHS directive definition.
- Updates in Environmental Effects - EPD: Major updates have been made to facilitate the use of climate data for calculations.
We look forward to the BASTA system becoming more flexible and easier to use, so that more people can access open sustainability data. If you discover anything that is not working as it should, please contact us at bastaonline@ivl.se.
How does the new system look like?
