GS1 and BASTA: expanding collaboration for more sustainability information in the building materials trade
GS1 will become the new standard for product information as Byggmaterialhandlarna, the industry association for the building materials trade, transitions from the in-house developed Vilma standard. We interviewed Jonatan Tullberg, CEO of GS1 Sweden, about how they use BASTA’s data.
Tell us about yourself and your role at GS1
My name is Jonatan Tullberg, and I am the CEO of GS1 Sweden. GS1 is a global federation, and we develop and implement standards that enable companies to drive efficiency and traceability in their value chains.
Why have you started using BASTA’s API?
In connection with Byggmaterialhandlarna’s decision to begin using GS1 standards for the exchange of product information, we see great value in retrieving BASTA assessments linked to specific products. This allows us to deliver information with high data quality to our recipients.
How will you use the data from BASTA?
The data will enrich existing fields in the product information that suppliers have provided for their items. The data can then be distributed further to the recipients with whom the supplier chooses to share their information.
