How do the Swedish National Grid's requirements work?
The requirements from Swedish National Grid cover activities that a supplier conducts under a contract with Swedish National Grid. The requirements apply to the implementation of construction, civil engineering and maintenance work, storage operations, consulting services in planning and design and other similar assignments.
The supplier with whom Swedish National Grid has signed an agreement is responsible for ensuring that the requirements are complied with. The chemical content is linearized according to BASTA's criteria and documentation from eBVD can be used as a source of information.
How does Swedish National Grid's classification harmonize with BASTA?
Swedish National Grid's classification for chemical products follows the BASTA system. Class 1 corresponds to BASTA's rating ALPHA, Class 2 of BETA and Class 3 of DECLARED.
All chemical products must, before they are used in the assignment, be classified. Classification is carried out by the supplier by checking the chemical product and its constituent substances against the criteria of the BASTA system in the criteria area Health and environmental hazards.

What does it look like on a product?
Criteria
Class 1: Permitted
Products that meet the criteria of the ALPHA level of the BASTA system. In practice, this refers to products that do not contain or limit phase-out and risk reduction substances (i.e. contain no or low levels of substances with hazardous properties).
Class 2: Risk reduction
Chemical products that meet the criteria for the BETA level according to the BASTA system. This refers to chemical products that limit phase-out substances (i.e. may contain risk reduction substances but no or low levels of phase-out substances).
Class 3: Phase-out
Chemical products containing phase-out substances above the BETA level in the BASTA system. These chemicals should only be used when there are no alternatives.
