How do the Swedish Chemicals Agency's PRIO tool work?
The Swedish Chemicals Agency's PRIO tool is a tool for substitution and can help you identify and replace substances that are hazardous to health and the environment in your products. The PRIO tool's criteria for phase-out substances and prioritised risk reduction substances form the basis for many of the BASTA system's criteria.
All substances that meet PRIO's criteria are covered by PRIO. The criteria refer to the hazardous properties of substances and are based on rules on classification according to the CLP Regulation.
The BASTA system's grade ALPHA meets criteria that limit phase-out substances and priority risk reduction substances according to the PRIO tool's criteria. The grade BETA meets criteria that limit phase-out substances (but not priority risk reduction substances) according to the Swedish Chemicals Agency's PRIO tool's criteria.
