What is Nordic Swan Ecolabel?
Many of the criteria applied to construction products within the Nordic Swan Ecolabel are also included in the BASTA system.
However, when it comes to the assessment of construction products used in Nordic Swan Ecolabelled buildings, BASTA cannot provide assessments, as these products must be evaluated in the Nordic Swan House Product Portal (SCDP). Consequently, none of the rating levels within the BASTA system can be used for this purpose.
The BASTA system may, however, be used to verify whether products meet requirements related to climate impact, circularity, and logbook information.

How does it look like on a product?
Requirements where BASTA can provide support
If a product has a linked EPD, this is indicated by the message “Information available.” The EPD data can be accessed via a link and used to perform a climate calculation for the building.
If a product contains circulated material, this is indicated by the message “Information available.” The proportion of circulated material can be accessed via a link and used to calculate the total share of recycled material within a specific product category.
If a product has been assessed against health and environmental hazard criteria, this is indicated by the message “Information available.” This information can be used to assess whether a product containing recycled material is suitable for use.
If a product contains renewable content, this is indicated by the message “Information available.” The proportion of renewable material can be accessed via a link and used to calculate the total share of renewable material within a specific product category.
BASTA’s logbook service meets the requirements for a logbook. However, BASTA has not applied for approval by the Nordic Swan Ecolabel.
