Welcome to BASTA!
BASTA is a system for anyone who wants to make conscious product selections with the aim of phasing out substances of concern – for example building owners, contractors, architects, structural engineers or individuals.
The BASTA system contributes to achieving Sweden’s national environmental goal “Non-toxic environment” and the UN’s global goal “Responsible consumption and production” by phasing ou substances with hazardous properties from building and construction products.
BASTAs database with articles that meet the criteria
The building and construction products found in the BASTA database fulfill BASTA’s requirements for chemical content. The BASTA database search function is open and freely available to everyone, either from our website or via our API.
In BASTA’s database you find articles are registered by suppliers and manufacturers of building and construction products. For each article there is information about which of BASTA’s criteria levels that the article fulfils. To register an article in the database, it must meet the requirements regarding the content of substances with dangerous properties. The registered articles are checked, and the quality of the information is assured through regular audits.
BASTAs Logbook service
BASTA Logbook is a web-based tool for documenting product selections at all stages of the building- and construction process. BASTA Logbook service focuses on traceability and digitisation with direct connections to the FINFO database and the industry’s system for digital construction product declarations eBVD.
Organisation
Major players in the construction industry support BASTA, as do authorities such as the Swedish Chemicals Agency and the Swedish Transport Administration.
BASTA is a non-profit-driven company and is jointly owned by IVL – the Swedish Environmental Research Institute, and the Swedish Construction Federation.
