Terms of qualification
The BASTA system is based on suppliers´ self-declarations registering those products that meet the properties criteria in the system's database. In addition to the properties criteria, the BASTA system sets a number of requirements to be met by the supplier. These ´terms of qualification´ principally relate to the ability of the supplier to confirm that the product concerned actually meets the properties criteria. Products that do not fulfil the properties criteria and/or where the supplier is not able to confirm in a reassuring manner that they do so cannot be registered in the system.
The supplier has to be able to verify that:
- the products that are registered in the BASTA system meet agreed properties criteria at all times
- there is documentation that confirms the assessment according to the properties criteria for all products that are registered in the BASTA system
- there is an organisation that clarifies the distribution of responsibility for the data on which BASTA-registered products are based
- necessary expertise is available to deal with the terms of qualification for BASTA registration
