BASTA´s properties criteria are at the heart of the system. These criteria build on the EU chemical legislation, REACH, which focuses on the phasing out of the most hazardous substances in use today.  The burden of proof in the BASTA system is put on the supplier, who has to confirm whether the product meets the criteria or not. We place a number of formal demands for quality on all suppliers who sign up to BASTA. The database (in Swedish) contains only those products that meet the properties criteria. The database is freely available for everyone to use; it can be accessed without a password or membership.
